Antifraud Initiative

What is the initiative

This initiative is aimed at creating the awareness about how technology works in defrauding the customers or is a victim of the frauds involving technology like Phishing, credit card frauds or 419 nigerian scams. With the growing usage of credit and debit cards, the instances of fraud related with them are also growing in the country. There are an estimated five crore credit cards and an average of about 2,000 frauds are reported every month. In addition there are close to 30 crore debit cards.
The issue of card fraud has even reached Parliament and in February the government informed the Lok Sabha that Biggest Private Sector Bank in India alone reported more than 8,000 cases of credit card frauds.

Objective of the Initiative
Transactions completed with credit cards seem to become more and more popular with the introduction of online shopping and banking. Correspondingly, the number of credit card frauds has also increased with the introduction of newer technology. From embossers to encoders to decoders, credit card counterfeiters are now using the latest technology to read, change, and implant magnetic information on counterfeit credit cards.
Today Credit cards are the easiest way to handle monetary affairs whether they are small or big. The young generation today makes the use of credit cards on a very daily basis. Parallely Frauds relating to the credit cards are also invited. The drive of credit card frauds is the new topic for each one of us to concentrate on the negative effects of this facility.
